Frequently Asked Questions

What type of therapy do you provide?

I provide both traditional talk therapy as well as art therapy services. Clients can decide which modality they prefer, and I am happy to discuss in more detail which one would be a better fit for you! I work with both adult individuals as well as couples, and also provide art therapy to adolescents. All my sessions are held via telehealth.

What is your approach to therapy?

I use a variety of approaches and theories in my work, including psychodynamic theory (exploring how past relationships and experiences influence the present), CBT (examining thought patterns and behaviors and helping explore ways to incorporate new ones) and relational theory (focusing on the importance of relationships for healing). I also apply relational theory to all my therapeutic relationships, which focuses on the importance of building trust, being open, and creating positive relationships.

My personal style is warm, welcoming, and open.

Do you accept insurance? What are your fees?

I currently accept Optum, Aetna, and Cigna insurance carriers. I also offer private pay sessions for those interested. If I do not accept your insurance I encourage potential clients to contact their insurance carrier to inquire about potential reimbursement for sessions, which is more likely for clients who carry PPOs. If this is possible I am happy to provide clients with a superbill for submission. Fees are $175 per private pay session. I encourage you to check out this article on the process!

How do I set up a session?

Contact me via email and I will reach out to schedule a 15 minute, free consultation to see if my professional skills and speciality  as well as availability seem like a good fit. If they are we will schedule an initial session.

What is art therapy?

Art therapy is a mode of therapy that involves making art! Because I provide services via telehealth I will work with whatever materials you already have available to you. This can be markers, crayons, paints, clay, fiber arts- whatever you prefer! I believe in two modes of art therapy: art as therapy, where the act of art itself provides healing, and art therapy, where art is used as a way of exploring emotions and experiences and creating conversations in sessions. Clients can decide if they would like to incorporate art into their sessions.
